Our mission and Our Vision
One of the driving factors in our business was to be more creative with materials and to reduce waste. My husband works for a local tree trimming company, and was saddened by watching trees ending their life cycles being tossed in the dump. He heard stories from families who needed to cut down a tree, and wanted pieces of the tree that had been in their yard for the life of their family. How could we just throw in the trash a good tree that was loved and had material we could use?
One day he took a chainsaw and made some cuts and saw the beautiful wood inside a felled tree. He saw the beauty that was there, and knew that we could do something to extend a tree's life cycle. We knew we could create something enduring, realized that we could help other creators by supplying beautiful native hardwood lumber.
Our team
Creativity has always been a refuge. Music, building, crafting, or sewing, I enjoy the peace and joy that comes from creation.
As life got more complicated, it became harder for me to find those moments of creation. I needed to deliberately make space for projects and fun and peace.
When I and my husband decided to make presents for family and friends, we found a new way to enjoy our hobbies. Not only did we have joy for ourselves in the creation, but giving a physical part of our time and abilities to others showed our love for them.
I've received many handmade gifts, particularly from my mom, that have brought me joy. These have been various things over the years, but my favorite things have been Christmas ornaments and handbags, that are beautiful and functional. During lockdown, we made cutting boards, designed and gifted with love. We've heard from those who received these boards that they still use them and love them.
As time has gone on, we wanted to do more. Not just make wonderful gifts that are useful, but to make products that more people can use and enjoy. And for our fellow makers, providing material to create your own handcrafted works. So here we are today, bringing natural wood and finished projects to you, to cherish and enjoy for years to come.
